Non-Contact Boxing

Welcome to the Warrior Women community, where vulnerability, strength and healing unite.

Let’s BOX!

At the Warrior Women Project, our vision is to nurture a world of empowered, strong and authentic women. We aim to achieve this by providing non-contact (limited to bag and pad work/no sparring) embodied 1:1 and group boxing classes to individuals who identify as women.

Our boxing classes are run with an understanding of the nervous system in mind. This means we will tailor classes to you, helping you to understand how your nervous system responds to stress, supporting you to use boxing movements to help you release emotions, increase your confidence, set boundaries and generally feel more empowered.

We aim to work with you to support you in embodying ‘fierce compassion’ - integrating both ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ energies. Head to our ‘classes’ page to find out about our classes in North Devon and Exeter, and book your place.

One-on-One Coaching

We offer 1:1 coaching sessions designed for women 18 years and upwards keen on boosting their confidence, feeling empowered, releasing stress and embodying ‘fierce compassion’.

Our bodies are very good at storing our feelings. But sometimes, this means our emotions can get stuck leading our nervous systems to freeze or shut down. This can look like feeling ‘numb’, hopeless or depressed. For other people, they may feel at the mercy of their emotions, often unintentionally reacting and feeling out of control. Other people may have learnt handy ways of managing emotions by focusing on the needs of others, trying to look after the people around them. More recently, this has been recognised as a 'fawn' response - a way of coping in moments of possible threat or danger. In our 1:1 sessions, we'll use an embodied approach to break free from these coping patterns held within your body, building your connection with your true self, values, and goals.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to take a look in to what we offer. We're here to provide you with the information and support you’re looking for.

We spotlight our key partnerships and support networks, particularly emphasising our collaboration with Encompass Southwest. This segment illustrates the vital role that cooperation plays in our operations, showcasing how these collaborative ties are essential to the reach and effectiveness of our initiatives. It's a testament to the collective effort and shared vision driving our mission forward.

EMPIRE FIGHTING CHANCE uses a powerful combination of non contact boxing and intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people aged 8 to 25 years to realise their unique potential.

ENCOMPASS SOUTHWEST has been working with George from the Warrior Women project since 2023 when we were approached about non-contact boxing sessions for women supported by our Brave Spaces project. Encompass has been on a journey to provide trauma informed support to our clients and this opportunity seemed like a perfect fit.

During our first meeting, it was agreed that we would invite a variety of women, many of whom have experienced trauma, domestic abuse or sexual violence, to attend the boxing with the aim of giving them an opportunity to try something different in a controlled and safe environment.

From the outset the feedback was positive, many of the women reported feeling empowered during the sessions, some even asked for sessions to last longer! George and Lesley were highly experienced in both the effects of trauma and in the art of non-contact boxing, the women felt comfortable in their presence and told us how being part of the group supported their emotional and mental well-being.

We know that recovery does not happen in a meeting room, it takes a variety of different positive experiences and in our experience creativity is key to trauma recovery and resilience and that is what the warrior women’s project provided.
